The perfect
Café Crème.
The Café Crème is Switzerland's answer to the Americano and is also known as a “Schümli,” which simply means “little foam” and refers to its characteristic crema.
A Café Crème consists of an espresso mixed with four times the amount of water.
Here's how to make this classic dish:
- Brew your coffee.
Use coffee grounds that are slightly coarser than those for an espresso and beans with a light to medium roast, otherwise it will be too bitter. The brew time should be 45–55 seconds. - If your fully automatic coffee maker allows it, you should use a little more coffee here—ideally 10–12 g of ground coffee per cup. This ensures a particularly nice balance of fruitiness, sweet flavors, and a long-lasting aftertaste.
- Add a little liquid cream if desired.
We recommend the following preparation method: fully automatic coffee machine.
